Each year during NICU & Literacy Awareness Month, The O’Neil Foundation for Healing, in partnership with Fly Yaya and Carter G. Cares, brings the comfort, connection, and joy of books to NICU families.

Our annual book drive collects new and gently used children’s books and books for moms and distributes them to NICU in the DMV.

​

Last year, our community came together to collect 200 books, which were donated to MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center. This year, we are expanding our reach to include the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Washington, DC, allowing us to bring books and moments of comfort to even more NICU families.

We are incredibly grateful to every author who donated their books, every individual who made a financial contribution, and everyone who purchased a book from our Amazon Wishlist. Every donation, big or small, helps us place meaningful stories into the hands of families during an incredibly uncertain time.

Because sometimes, a book can offer a moment of comfort, create connection between parent and child, or provide a much-needed escape from the hospital walls.
